HOW IT WORKS
Touch sensorThis is a clear glass panel which contains a quick responding surface. The touch panel is placed over a display screen. The sensor normally has an electrical current or signal going throughout it and touching the screen. This causes a power or signal change. The power change is applied to find the location of the area of the touch to the screen.
ControllerThis is a small pc card which is connecting the touch sensor and the pc. The controller takes information from the touch screen and changes it into info that the pc can read. It is generally installed inside the monitor or it is housed in a plastic case for exterior touch, add ons or overlays. The controller decides what type of connection you will need on your pc.
Software DriveThis software driver updates software for pc systems. The driver allows the touch screen AND computer to work as a team. It communicates with the computers operating system, telling it how to interpret the touch information that is sent from the main controller. Some equipment such as thin client terminals, DVD players and specialised computer systems would either have software drives built in or they don’t use software drivers.
